At Tarkett we help create great spaces.
With a history of 140 years, Tarkett is a worldwide leader in innovative flooring and sports surface solutions. Tarkett creates sustainable and people-friendly flooring solutions, including vinyl, linoleum, rubber, carpet, wood, laminate, artificial turf and athletics tracks. The Group serves customers in over 100 countries across the globe.
Tarkett has 12,500 employees and 33 industrial sites, and sells 1.3 million square meters of flooring every day, for hospitals, schools, housing, hotels, offices, stores and sports fields.
These days, most people spend approximately 90% of their time indoors. This inspired a new corporate vision that tackled the question of ‘how can a floor make a positive contribution to our health and well-being?’.
Our mission is to ensure that we continue to develop unique products that create a noticeably better indoor climate where the optimal health and well-being of each individual remains the focus. The implementation of this mission is lead through our innovation programme which is based on the three pillars of Creativity, Functionality, and Cradle to Cradle®.
We don’t meet Indoor Air Quality standards. We raise them.
When we say we’re committed to giving you healthier spaces to live and work, that’s not just talk, we mean it. In fact, by capturing fine dust and driving down VOC emissions, our products exceed the strictest industry standards for air quality by so much, we’ve had to set our own standards. Standards that we can prove with science, not just words. It means you can breathe clearer air, knowing you made a conscious choice for your flooring.
Claiming to use ‘good materials’ is one thing. Proving you do is another. At Tarkett, we demand to know every detail about the materials we use, so we can be totally honest with you. It’s why we’re obsessed with the health and sustainability standards of Cradle to Cradle® – a methodology that guides our good material choices. And even then, we’re always on the hunt for something even better. Complete transparency from us, peace of mind for you.
Cradle to Cradle®
Tarkett is the first carpet manufacturer working within the EMEA region to apply the Cradle to Cradle® principles in the working methods of their organization. They have achieved this through a collaboration agreement with the EPEA (Environmental Protection Encouragement Agency) based in Hamburg, marking Tarketts somewhat radical decision to produce carpets and artificial grass in a more than just regular sustainable manner. According to the Cradle to Cradle® principle products are produced from positively defined components that are biologically or technically biodegradable, ensuring that they can be reused within the biological or technical cycle as raw materials for new products.
We all agree that recycling safe materials is a good thing. It preserves the world’s natural resources and is a major contributor to reducing climate change. This is why Tarkett has developed a hassle-free flooring take-back and recycling programme, ReStart®. At Tarkett, we take your post-consumer material away for recycling and provide customers with certification of the amount of the contributed material. We collect linoleum and vinyl off-cuts from installation, post-consumer click, loose-lay vinyl flooring or carpet flooring and bring it to our recycling sites. At the recycling sites, the material is recovered into high-quality raw material, which will be used to create new Tarkett floors.
